A Little More Into Composition
Summary of Composition and how it relates to Photography
Composition is how elements are arranged inside of a photo. It can be made up of many different elements or even just a few. Putting these elements together create a pleasing image that tell a story. Composition relates to Photography by creating a relationship. Everyone can take a photo but its what you do with it and what you add with different elements that draws the attention in.
Golden Mean/ Rules of Thirds
Placing the subject on a specific intersection where the image is divided into two parts.
Balancing Elements
Placing the subject on one side of the photo and putting another object to balance it.
Leading Lines
Lines that appear in a photo to draw a viewer’s eye to a specific direction.
Symmetry and Patterns
A photograph where there are similarities or repeating shapes, colors, and/or lines.
Viewpoint
The position of how we take photos and different views.
Background
Everything behind the main subject is the background.
Depth
The distance between the closest and farthest object and the object is in focus.
Framing
Focusing on a main subject and being able to block out non main subjects with things in the scene.
Cropping
Trimming down a photo and taking out things that of the outer area that are not wanted.
